Loudoun United are set to play the Charleston Battery in their eighth match of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship on June 26 at 7 PM ET at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. The Red-and-White will look to bounce back from a last-minute defeat in their last match and earn three points on the road on Saturday night.

In their last match, Loudoun United lost 2-1 to Hartford Athletic after a late goal in the final minutes of added time by Hartford broke the tie and handed Loudoun the loss. Hartford scored the first goal of the match in the 6thminute when Juan Obregan scored from in-close off a counterattacking opportunity. Loudoun United responded well and dominated the possession for the rest of the half thanks to strong play by Nicky Downs and Jeremy Garay in the center of midfield. Loudoun United came close to scoring on a couple occasions but went into halftime down 1-0.

Loudoun United scored the match-tying goal in the 78thminute when a cross sent in from the left wing struck a Hartford defender on the arm, awarding Loudoun United with a penalty kick. Jovanny Bolivar calmly finished the penalty, sending the Hartford goalkeeper the wrong way and placing his shot into the bottom right corner of the net. In the 88thminute, the match went into an inclement weather delay that forced players and fans to leave the field area for just under an hour. Once the match resumed, Hartford found the match winning goal when they converted a rebound from right in front of goal in the fifth minute of added time to claim the 2-1 victory.

This will be the second time these two teams face off during the 2021 USL Championship season. In their previous meeting on June 6that Segra Field, Charleston won a tightly contested 1-0 match after scoring their goal late in the second half. Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and will face each other four total times during the 2021 season.

The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ with coverage starting at 7 PM ET.
