Loudoun United will travel south to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies for their 13thmatch of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship Regular Season on Saturday, July 24 at 7:30 PM ET. The Red-and-White will look to rebound from three straight losses and earn three points against a tough Tampa Bay Rowdies team on Saturday night.
In their last match, Loudoun United lost 1-0 to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on July 17. The lone goal in the match came in the 6thminute when Russell Cicerone finished with a first-time shot from in-close. Loudoun goalkeeper Jermaine Fordah made seven saves on the night, including in the 79thminute when he made a quick-reaction save to deny a well-hit shot by a Pittsburgh attacker. The Red-and-White put pressure on the Pittsburgh defense all night and nearly found the match-tying goal on two separate occasions in the second half. In the 74thminute, Massimo Ferrin found room on the top of the box, but his shot was narrowly saved by the Riverhounds goalkeeper. In the 86thminute, Tyler Gabbara’s left-footed shot off a cross from the right wing went just wide. Despite keeping 60% of the possession in the match, Loudoun United were unable to find the breakthrough and lost 1-0 to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Loudoun United have a 1-1-1 record against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in club history. This will be the second of four times that the two teams will match up during the 2021 USL Championship Regular Season. The first time they played this season, Tampa Bay won 2-1 thanks to an 85thminute match-winning goal. Robby Dambrot scored the lone goal for the Red-and-White in the 4thminute in that match. Loudoun United will look to improve on this result and earn three points on Saturday night.
