Loudoun United are set to play their 15thmatch of the season as they host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, July 31 with kickoff scheduled for 7 PM ET. Loudoun will look to continue the strong offensive play they showed in their last match when they face a tough Colorado Springs side on Saturday night.

In their last match, Loudoun United lost 5-3 to the Charleston Battery on Tuesday, July 27. Each team scored three goals in the first half, but two goals in the second half by the Battery ended up being the difference in the match. Charleston scored their first two goals in the 4thand 9thminutes. Loudoun responded well with a goal in the 23rdminute when Ted Ku-DiPietro, in his first match as Captain, fired a shot into the roof of the net after picking up the ball in the middle of the box. Charleston scored their third goal in the first half nine minutes later. Kairou Amoustapha cut the lead to one in the 41stminute when he finished around the goalkeeper from the right side of the box after receiving a perfect pass from Nicky Downs that put him through. Loudoun tied the match moments after when a cross by Darluis Paz got deflected into the net by a Charleston defender for an own. The match went into halftime tied 3-3.

Charleston took the lead in the 56thminute when they scored on a header from a free kick. Loudoun nearly found the equalizer on two occasions later in the second. In the 74thminute, Darluis Paz fired a shot from outside the box that went just inches over the crossbar. Shortly after, Samson Sergi had a shot from inside the box narrowly saved by the Charleston goalkeeper. Charleston added one last goal late in the match from a penalty kick and won the match 5-3.

This will be the first time the two clubs ever play against each other. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC play in the Western Conference Mountain Division of the USL Championship. This will be the only time the two teams play each other during the 2021 season.

The match can be streamed on ESPN+ with coverage starting at 7 PM ET.
