Loudoun United are set to play against the Charleston Battery for their 17thmatch of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship on Friday, August 13 with kickoff set for 7:30 PM ET. Loudoun will look to build off the strong defensive display they showed in their last match when they travel south to take on the Charleston Battery on Friday night.
In their last match, Loudoun United drew 0-0 with Charlotte Independence on August 6. The Red-and-White, led by Jermaine Fordah’s six saves in net, kept a clean sheet and earned a hard-fought point at home. Jermaine Fordah made two saves in the opening 20 minutes to keep the game level. Loudoun’s best chance of the half came in the 35thminute when Darluis Paz beat two defenders but had his left-footed shot blocked away by a diving Charlotte goalkeeper. Loudoun came close on a couple different occasions late in the first half, but the two sides went into the break tied 0-0.
The second half continued much like the first half, with goalscoring changes being hard to come by for both teams. Ted Ku-DiPietro pushed the hosts forward in the second half with his driving runs at the Charlotte Independence backline. Jackson Hopkins, who came on as a substitute in the second half, came close late in the match with a strike from 25 yards out that the goalkeeper narrowly pushed wide. The match ended in a scoreless draw, as the two sides shared the point on the night.
The match can be streamed on ESPN+ with coverage starting at 7:30 PM ET.
