
Loudoun United FC have acquired midfielders Sandor Bustamante and Collin Verfurth for the 2019 inaugural season pending league and federation approval.
“We are happy to add two more important pieces to our roster ahead of the 2019 season opener against Nashville,” Richie Williams, Loudoun United FC Head Coach, said. “Sandor has a good soccer pedigree after growing up in the D.C. United Academy and Collin had a great four years at Virginia Tech after growing up in Ashburn. They will both be great additions to a promising group of players in our first USL Championship season.”
Sandor Bustamante is a midfielder from Alexandria, VA., and joins Loudoun United after spending four years with the D.C. United Academy; scoring twice in 37 match appearances.
Verfurth joins Loudoun United after playing four years of NCAA Division I Men's Soccer at Virginia Tech University in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team. He spent four years (2014-2017) with Virginia tech totaling 70 match appearances. In his four years, Verfurth scored 9 goals with 43 shots on goal. His senior year he scored four goals for eight points on the season including two game-winners.
Verfurth grew up in Ashburn, Virginia and attended Briar Woods High School. In his time at Briar Woods, he was a four-year varsity letter winner in soccer. In his senior year, he was named first-team All-Met, All-Loudoun, All-District, All-Region and All-State. He led his team in goals in 2013 with 18, which broke the school record for goals in a single season. Verfurth also played soccer for Loudoun Soccer club growing up, D.C. United’s partner in the “Pathway to Pro” program.
