Loudoun United FC (6-14-6, 24 points) @ Bethlehem Steel FC (7-14-6, 27 points)
Kickoff: Wednesday September 18 th , 2019 7:30pm ET
Talen Energy Stadium, Chester, Pennsylvania
After surrendering an early 1-0 lead which lead to a 2-1 loss to Memphis 901 FC last Friday, Loudoun United will look to get back in the win column at Bethlehem Steel this Wednesday. This has the potential to be one of the tightest and most evenly played matches of the year for Loudoun, as they are separated from Bethlehem by just three points in the eastern conference standings. In addition, when the two teams faced off at Audi Field back in May, it was an extra time goal from Orlando Sinclair that forced a 3-3 tie.
Bethlehem is coming off an impressive showing in a competitive 2-1 loss on the road to Indy Eleven, who stands in second place in the eastern conference. The Steel had 14 shots, seven of them on target and two of them hitting the post before Ben Ofeimu finished an equalizing header in the 75th minute. Although they gave up the eventual game-winning goal five minutes later, it’s clear that they’re playing some of their best soccer and will certainly be a challenge for the Loudoun defense.
Players to watch:
Loudoun United: Team captain Kyle Murphy continues to lead Loudoun’s offense, as he’s found himself in quite the groove over the last stretch of games. Leading the team in goals, he recorded his eighth of the year last week on a chip over the Memphis 901 FC keeper. Along with Murphy, forward Antonio Bustamante has proven to be vital to Loudoun’s offense. He’s made 18 starts, recording three goals and three assists this season.
Bethlehem Steel: It was forward Michee Ngalina who burned Loudoun with two goals the last time the two clubs played. He has since added three more goals and is the club’s second leading scorer. In front of Ngalina is Faris Pemi Moumbagna, who Loudoun will look to force outside of the box, as all six of his goals on the season have come from inside 18 yards.
