
Leesburg, Va. (Feb. 10, 2022)- Loudoun United FC (LUFC) have announced the re-signing of midfielder Michael Gamble ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season.
Michael Gamble returns to Loudoun after providing veteran experience in the last two seasons. The 28-year-old joined LUFC on January 13, 2020, from Deportes Santa Cruz. Gamble recorded one assist in 12 appearances for the Red-and-White in the 2020 season. In the 2021 season, Gamble made 16 appearances (10 starts) and logged 894 minutes.
“We are excited to welcome back Michael [Gamble], who has played such an integral role on our roster the past two seasons,” Ryan Martin, Loudoun United Head Coach, said. “Gamble is a veteran on our team and understands our style of play to help push the team forward this year.”
The Bedford, England native started his professional career when he was selected by the New England Revolution in the second round (30th overall) of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Gamble had stints with USL sides Rochester Rhinos and FC Tulsa Roughnecks. In that time, Gamble played in 30 matches (24 starts) totaling 2,212 minutes. He scored three goals and recorded two assists while with the Roughnecks.
Prior to his professional career, Gamble played four years (2012-2016) at Wake Forest University. In that time, he scored 24 goals and recorded 20 assists in 60 games (51 starts); tying him for ninth in school history with 68 points. As team captain his senior year, Gamble was named to the Second Team All-ACC while earning Second Team NSCAA All-South Region honors.
