The Matchup
Loudoun United Football Club (8-5-3) currently sits in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with 27 points and looks to get back in the winning column following back-to-back draws against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Orange County SC. Oakland Roots SC sits in 11th place in the Western Conference with a record of 5-9-2 and 17 points. Oakland looks to bounce back following a 1-2 loss to Western Conference rivals Phoenix Rising FC last weekend. The Red-and-White have been strong on home turf, posting a record of 5-1-2 at Segra Field thus far. On the other side, the Roots are 3-4-0 on the road so far this season.
Players to look out for on Loudoun United include the league’s current top scorer, Abdellatif Aboukoura, as well as Zach Ryan and Riley Bidois, who have three goals apiece. Oakland’s Wolfgang Prentice leads his side with four goals, followed closely by Peter Wilson, who has three. In terms of goalkeepers, Hugo Fauroux leads the Eastern Conference in saves with 45 and has posted three clean sheets, whereas Oakland Roots keeper Kendall McIntosh has 40 saves and five clean sheets. The last time these two clubs met was back in August of 2024 at Pioneer Stadium, where Oakland handed Loudoun United a 3-1 loss. The Red-and-White look to get their first win in league play since June 14th, having posted two losses and two draws since then.
