Match Recap | Loudoun United FC vs. San Antonio FC
Leesburg, VA (September 13th, 2025) – Loudoun United Football Club falls to San Antonio FC 5-2 at Segra Field.
Match Summary
Loudoun United Football Club moves to 11-9-4 following a 5-2 loss to San Antonio FC at Segra Field. The Red-and-White started off the first half strong, testing the San Antonio goalkeeper and backline throughout the first 20 minutes. Loudoun’s Arquímides Ordóñez opened the scoring for the match in the 21st minute after sneaking behind the San Antonio defense and receiving a pass from Loudoun’s Ben Mines. Florian Valot’s quick throw-in found the feet of Mines, who fed Ordóñez behind the backline, and the forward made no mistake in his one-on-one with the San Antonio goalkeeper, burying his shot in the side netting. In stoppage time at the end of the first half, Loudoun’s Pedro Santos received a second yellow card, and the Red-and-White found themselves up a goal and down a man heading into the second half of play.
San Antonio FC found the equalizer in the 58th minute of play. Jimmy Merdranda hit a well-struck volley off a corner kick from Jorge Hernandez, and the match was all even at 1-1. The Western Conference side found the tiebreaker just three minutes later when Santiago Patino found the back of the net off an assist from Merdranda. San Antonio only held a one-goal lead for three minutes, until Loudoun’s Keegan Tingey drilled a low cross into the San Antonio box that hit off a defender and ended up in the back of the net, leveling the match at 2-2 in the 63rd minute. 10-man Loudoun United was unable to keep up the intensity for the remainder of the half, allowing San Antonio to bag three more goals in the club’s 5-2 loss to the Western Conference side. Loudoun continues its Western Conference tour, this time back on the road at Phoenix Rising FC next Saturday.
Thoughts from the Club
Head Coach Ryan Martin on tonight’s result:
“We are disappointed in the result for sure. Our first half performance was really strong, and I liked how we looked 11v11, but getting a red card that early definitely hurt us. We just need to be more disciplined moving forward. We’ll learn from this as we start prepping for Phoenix (Rising FC).”
