
Forward Zach Ryan Announces His Retirement from Professional Soccer
Leesburg, VA (December 18, 2025) – Loudoun United Football Club forward and all-time leading scorer Zach Ryan has announced his retirement from professional soccer.
Ryan signed with Loudoun United Football Club prior to the 2023 USL Championship season and quickly became a key figure in the club’s attack. He made his Loudoun United debut on March 11, 2023, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Memphis 901 FC. Throughout his time with the Red-and-White, Ryan earned Legacy Number 117 and wore kit #14, becoming the club’s leading scorer in history with 25 USL Championship goals and 11 assists, while totaling 89 appearances across all competitions.
A native of Chatham Borough, New Jersey, Ryan’s professional career began after a standout collegiate career at Stanford University, where he tallied 31 goals and 13 assists in 73 appearances and was a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist in 2020. Following college, Ryan signed an MLS Homegrown Contract with the New York Red Bulls in 2022, making six MLS appearances and 12 for New York Red Bulls II before joining Loudoun United ahead of the 2023 season.
During his time with Loudoun United, Ryan’s leadership and attacking prowess were on full display. He scored his first goals for the club in his debut and went on to become one of the most influential players in the team’s modern era. His contributions included key goals in league play and cup competitions and serving as a role model for younger players in the squad.
