Leesburg, VA. (January 14, 2026) – Loudoun United FC announce that the club has signed New York Red Bulls defender Aidan O’Connor to a two-year contract, pending league and federation approval.
O’Connor, 24, joins the Red-and-White after a strong two-year stretch with the New York Red Bulls organization, where he was selected 12th overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. In 2024, O’Connor made his MLS debut against Orlando City SC and appeared in two league matches and the US Open Cup. With the New York Red Bulls II that same season, he played and started 24 MLS NEXT Pro matches, logging 2,122 minutes, scoring his first professional goal against Crown Legacy FC on August 25, and adding one assist. Last season, O’Connor joined Vancouver FC on a loan in the Canadian Premier League, playing 24 games.
“Aidan is a physically strong and highly determined defender,” said Anthony Limbrick, Head Coach of Loudoun United FC. “He is at an ideal stage in his development, having progressed through New York Red Bulls. In addition, his experience in the Canadian Premier League with Vancouver FC has equipped him well for the challenge ahead.”
“I am thankful for this opportunity to play for Loudoun and excited for this new chapter in my career,” said Aidan O’Connor. “I am committed to working hard every day and developing into the best player I can be to help the team compete for championships. I can’t wait to build off the momentum from last season and give the fans a great season to look forward to.”
Prior to signing professionally, O’Connor played two seasons at Western Michigan University, making 22 appearances and scoring two goals. He later transferred and went to play for the University of Virginia, where he appeared in 31 matches, scored one goal, and recorded two assists across two seasons. At Virginia, he contributed to a defensive core that consistently ranked among the ACC’s most organized and difficult to break down.
“Aidan is a competitor and a leader. He’s served as a captain and brings the communication, presence, and accountability we value in our back line,” said Alen Marcina, Sporting Director for Loudoun United FC. “He plays on the front foot, embraces high-intensity moments, and is hungry to maximize his potential within an environment that reflects the mentality and standards we want to build at Loudoun United.”
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, O’Connor developed through the Forest Hills Northern High School before beginning his collegiate career.
