Leesburg, VA. (January 17, 2026) — Loudoun United FC announce that the club has signed forward Thorleifur Úlfarsson to a two-year contract, pending league and federation approval.
Úlfarsson, 25, joins the Red-and-White with experience across Major League Soccer and European club competition, including the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Icelandic striker most recently competed in Europe, gaining valuable experience at both the domestic league and continental levels following his time in MLS.

Úlfarsson was selected fourth overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft after a standout collegiate career at Duke University. During his time with the Blue Devils, the forward emerged as one of the most dangerous attackers in the country, earning ACC Offensive Players of the Year honors and All-ACC First Team recognition. He finished his Duke career with 19 goals and helped lead the program to multiple postseason appearances.

Following the SuperDraft, Úlfarsson signed a Generation Adidas contract and joined Houston Dynamo FC, where he made his debut coming off the bench in the club’s season opener against Real Salt Lake. Across two seasons with the Dynamo, Úlfarsson made 49 MLS appearances, recording seven goals and two assists.
After his time in MLS, Úlfarsson continued his career in Europe, transferring to Hungarian side Debreceni VSC in January 2024. He later returned to Iceland and rejoined Breiðablik UBK, the club where he began his career, bringing added European experience back into his game.
