
Leesburg, VA. (February 25, 2026) — Loudoun United FC continued its preseason schedule with a 4-3 loss to Northern Virginia FC, as the Red-and-White took another step forward in preparations for the 2026 USL Championship season.
Match Summary
Loudoun opened the scoring in the 17th minute when a trialist finished a well-worked attacking move to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead.
Northern Virginia FC responded in the 27th minute to level the match, but Loudoun quickly answered. In the 30th minute, Jack Panayotou calmly converted from the penalty spot after Loudoun drew a foul inside the box to restore the advantage.
The Red-and-White added a third just before halftime, as a trialist found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to send Loudoun into the break with a 3-1 lead.
Northern Virginia FC pulled a goal back in the 70th minute to cut the deficit to one. Two late goals in the 77th and 80th minutes completed the comeback and ultimately handed the visitors the 4-3 result.
As the match progressed, Loudoun made several changes to manage minutes and provide opportunities across the group, with the focus remaining on building fitness, chemistry, and tactical cohesion ahead of the regular season.
