
Leesburg, VA. (August 8, 2024) – Loudoun United FC today announced that the club has signed standout midfielder Abdellatif Aboukoura to a two-and-a-half year contract with an option for the 2027 season, pending league and federation approval.
The Fairfax, VA native was a part of the D.C. United Academy, originally making his debut with Loudoun United in the USL against Miami FC on May 2, 2021 at the age of 16. Aboukoura holds eligibility to represent both the United States and Egypt on the international level, having been born in the United States to Egyptian parents.
“I am incredibly proud of Aboukoura and his journey to becoming a pro, and even more so that he chose to continue his development here at Loudoun United” said Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He is a very gifted attacking player who can unlock a defense with his one-on-one ability. He is a tremendous young man who loves to play the game.” Martin emphasized that Aboukoura, “…is the type of player that, as a coach, you love working with!”
The Egyptian has scored five goals in the 2024 season, the most goals scored in the USL Championship by any player under 20 years old, a feat that has garnered him Team of the Week Honors for Weeks 16 and 17. Aboukoura scored four goals in seven appearances for the Red-and-White in its 2022 campaign, with his first professional goal coming in a 4-1 loss to Oakland Roots on April 16, 2022.

Born in Fairfax, Virginia, Aboukoura spent his youth years playing for D.C. United Academy. During his time with D.C., he received a call-up to the U.S. Youth National Team training camp in 2021. The following year, Aboukoura was called up to the Egyptian U-20 National Team camp in March 2022. Aboukoura was called up again in July 2022 to the Egyptian U-20 national team, this time to take part in the 2022 Arab Cup U-20.
