Loudoun United FC have re-signed defender Shane Wiedt through the 2020 season.
“Shane came in late last year but made a big impact as he continued to grow in each game and stayed composed on the ball at all times,” Head Coach, Ryan Martin, said. “He had a great preseason with the first team and has formed great habits from his time with them and in his collegiate career.”
Wiedt began his collegiate career at the University of Akron where he played for three seasons. With Akron, Wiedt made 32 appearances (22 starts) helping Akron record 23 shutouts. After three seasons with Akron, Wiedt transferred to the University of Pittsburgh for his senior year. In his lone season with Pittsburgh, Wiedt made 17 appearances (16 starts) helping his team to five shutouts and their first ever win in the ACC Tournament.

In his rookie season for Loudoun, Wiedt made seven appearances (all starts) recording 35 clearances, 12 blocked shots and eight interceptions.
