Loudoun United FC have signed Loyola University Maryland forward Josh Fawole ahead of the 2020 season. Fawole was selected by MLS side D.C. United as the 42nd (second round) overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.
“Josh had a great preseason with the first team. He is an explosive attacker who can create chances and score goals,” Head Coach, Ryan Martin, said. “We are extremely excited to have him join us ahead of the 2020 season.”
The Columbia, Md. native scored 20 goals and recorded 10 assists in 68 appearances (47 starts) over four seasons with Loyola (2016-2019). Last season, the forward was selected to the All-Patriot League First Team after scoring eight goals and recording two assists in 19 appearances (12 starts). In addition, Fawole was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team to wrap up his senior year.
In 2018, the Fawole was second on the team with five goals. He made his mark in his second career multi-goal game against Holy Cross, as he capitalized on a penalty kick in the first half and grabbed the game-winner in the 107th minute. His performances in his junior season led Loyola to a 7-1-1 conference record, their best in his four years at the school.
