Loudoun United FC Sign Columbus Crew Defender Jake Morris on Loan
LEESBURG, VA (June 27, 2023) – Loudoun United have signed defender Jake Morris on loan from Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew through the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval.
“We are excited to welcome Jake [Morris] to Loudoun,” said Loudoun United Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He is a very talented left-footed player, who has excellent range and service. Jake is a young player whose mentality will be a great addition to our squad.”
Morris joins the Red-and-White after spending the start of the 2023 season with Columbus Crew. The 24-year-old appeared in the Third-Round Open Cup match against Indy Eleven, playing thirteen minutes. Morris signed with the Crew on January 14, 2022, following a trade from Seattle Sounders FC.
Morris represented Campbell University from 2020-2021, making 28 appearances while registering seven goals and nine assists. Before joining the Camels, Morris played for Tyler Junior College, where he made 45 appearances while tallying 12 goals and eight assists.
Prior to his time in the collegiate ranks, Morris was part of the Sounders Academy from 2016-2018. During his time in Seattle, the defender featured for the Tacoma Defiance, Sounders FC’s second team. Morris joined his brother Aidan Morris on the Columbus Crew roster, becoming the 19th pair of brothers to play together in MLS.
