Leesburg, VA. (December 13th, 2024) – Loudoun United FC today announced that the club has extended French forward Florian Valot to a one-year contract through the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval.
The 2016 USL Championship title winner Florian Valot returns to Loudoun United FC following his 35 appearances across all competitions where he recorded four goals and five assists for the Red-and-White in 2024.
“Florian’s composure on the ball and technique is unique in the USL and having someone with his background in major-league soccer at the club is an incredible asset.” Said Olly Gage. “We are excited to see Flo take his leadership one step further as he returns to the club for a second year.”
“Florian has proven himself over the years as a top player in any league he has played in. I am honored he has decided to return for a second season. When he joined in 2024, I knew he was a good player but had no idea what a tremendous person he is and student of the game. He wants to take this journey with us to get Loudoun to the next level and I am excited to do it with him and this group.” – Head Coach, Ryan Martin
“I’m beyond excited to re-sign with the team. Last season was a turning point for me, and I truly believe in the progress we’ve made and the direction we’re heading. It’s been an incredible journey, and even though we didn’t make the playoffs, I’ve seen something growing here – the enthusiasm around the team, the passion from our fans, and the deepening connection with the community. For me, last season reignited my love for the sport and reminded me why I fell in love with the game in the first place. The style of play we’re developing and the club’s long-term vision make me genuinely excited for what’s to come. I’ve built real bonds with my teammates, and being part of this group feels like something bigger than just football. I’m fully invested in the success of this club, both on and off the field, and I want to do everything I can to help us grow. Our shared ambition to win trophies is something I’m eager to help make a reality. I’m confident that, together, we’ll achieve even greater things in the seasons ahead.” – Florian Valot
Before joining Loudoun United in 2024, the forward played 59 matches across two seasons for Miami FC in the USL Championship, recording seven goals and 11 assists.
Valot’s professional career journey in North America started when he joined New York Red Bulls II in 2016. The French international saw early success with the club, winning the 2016 USL Championship Cup. He went on to captain the team the following season and totaled 56 appearances during his time with Red Bulls II, tallying 13 goals and 13 assists.
Valot joined the New York Red Bulls in December 2017. He recorded an assist in his debut with the MLS side in a 2-0 victory against Mexican foe Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League. The French international helped the Red Bulls win the MLS Supporters’ Shield in his first season with the club. Over two seasons, Valot scored five goals and eight assists in his 50 appearances for the club.
In August 2021, the New York Red Bulls traded Valot to FC Cincinnati, where he appeared nine times.
Born in Pau, France, Valot spent his youth years playing in the Paris Saint-Germain youth system and Monaco’s reserve team before attending Rider University in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. He played 34 matches across two collegiate seasons, scoring 13 goals and dishing out six assists.
