Ryan Martin – Head Coach
Ryan Martin joined Loudoun United in June of 2019 as the second head coach in the club’s history after becoming the director of United’s academy in January 2017. Prior to overseeing all youth development for D.C. United, the Columbus, Ohio, native coached and was the recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest University and in 2016 helped build FC Cincinnati’s roster from scratch.
An NSCAA All-American midfielder at Ohio Wesleyan under his father Jay Martin, the all-time winningest coach in NCAA history, Martin went on to play for Real Salt Lake and teams in Iceland and Germany before following his passion to coaching. He returned to Ohio Wesleyan to begin his coaching career, and the following year moved to Wake Forest University in 2007 under Jay Vidovich. During his time at Wake Forest, the Demon Deacons won one national championship, made three NCAA College Cups and won two ACC Championships while compiling a record of 102-39-22.
At FC Cincinnati, Martin acted as assistant coach, where he helped form a roster of 26 players from scratch in four months en route to finishing third (16-6-8) out of 29 teams and having the Goalkeeper of the Year, MVP and Golden Boot winner, Coach of the Year finalist and three First-Team All-USL players.
Oliver Gage – Director of Soccer
Bringing a wealth of experience from both domestic and international soccer arenas, Gage joins Loudoun United after serving as Director of Football at SixFive Sports where he oversaw football strategy for two Canadian Premier League (CPL) teams alongside efforts to expand into Europe and form a multi-club network. Prior to SixFive Sports, Gage served for four years as the Director of Football for the CPL, where he played a central role in supporting the league’s inception. During this time, he led team roster builds, contributed to key decision-making processes, implemented data analytics strategies, and provided guidance on league regulations and salary cap mechanisms.
With over a decade of professional technical experience, including as the Head of Analysis and Technical Recruitment with the Houston Dynamo FC, and as a technical staff member of the University of Virginia Cavaliers, the 2014 NCAA D1 National Champions, his deep industry knowledge, relationships, and insight will be invaluable to Loudoun United FC. Gage is known for his unwavering passion for player development and proven track record in navigating the intricacies of elite soccer operations.
Patrick Mullins – Senior Analyst, Scouting Operations
Patrick Mullins enters his 1st full season with Loudoun United FC in his position of Senior Analyst, Scouting Operations. Mullins previously served as a player agent with Wasserman Media Group after completing an 8-year professional playing career in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2021.
During his professional playing career, he spent time with five teams in the New England Revolution, New York City FC, DC United, Columbus Crew and Toronto FC. While playing he was an Executive Board member and Player Representative as a member of the MLS Players Association. He holds an MLS record for the fastest four goals scored in a regular season game with DC United.Mullins played collegiately at the University of Maryland from 2010-2013. He is one of seven men’s players all time to win the MAC Hermann trophy twice, the annual award given to the top male and female collegiate soccer players. He was a part of teams that advanced to two NCAA College Cup and won three ACC championships. He also played in the Premier Development League (PDL) with the New Orleans Jesters (2011-2013) and the Baton Rouge Capitals (2007).
