Match Day Information
Loudoun United FC (3-6-3, 12 points) vs. Atlanta United 2 (3-8-4, 13 points)
Kickoff: Friday June 28th, 2019- 7:30 pm ET
Audi Field, Washington, DC
After a frustrating loss at home to Indy Eleven two weeks ago, Loudoun United FC will look to pick up their first win at Audi Field against an Atlanta United 2 team on Friday. This will be their second to last game at Audi Field before transitioning to their new stadium on August 9th.
Atlanta currently sits at 13th place in the eastern conference and are having trouble both on offense and defense as of late, as they’ve only found the back of the net once in their last three games and gave up nine goals over that stretch. Loudoun will look to take advantage of Atlanta’s lack of discipline as well, as they lead the USL Championship with 40 yellow cards.
Players to watch:
Loudoun United: Loudoun’s offense continues to be led by team captain Kyle Murphy, who leads the team in both goals (4) and assists (2). He doesn’t stand alone though, as Griffin Yow is always a player to watch for Loudoun, as the 16-year-old’s dribbling, distribution, and scoring skills have been on display every time he’s taken the pitch this season.
Atlanta United 2: Despite struggling to find the win column frequently this year, Atlanta goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira has been a bright spot in his eight appearances. He is in the top ten in saves (37) in the USL Championship, and has one clean sheet. Forward Romario Williams has proven to be Atlanta’s best scorer, as his power inside the box has scored him a team-leading three goals in just five appearances.
