Head Coach Ryan Martin
On completing first match as Head Coach:
"I feel extremely excited to not only get a result on the road but to score three goals and really play some good soccer at times. I feel extremely proud of the players with their effort, commitment and desire to fight until the end. They dug out a result while playing some good soccer which was the best part for me!"
Overall thoughts on team performance:
"I think what sums it up best is a great collective effort and strong mentality the group had out there today. The leaders in the group like Peabo, Antonio, Andy, Kyle, Harri and Noah have really done a great job helping to lead and pushing the group to continue to get better everyday! The quality of soccer that broke out and the chances created tonight was a massive step forward for the club and the guys. The group just keeps getting better every day and that’s important as we have two days before Louisville!"
On the young academy debuts tonight:
"Having two players start being born in 2001, Jack and Nelson, and another score a goal as a 2002, Griffin, was a fantastic testament to the clubs desire to produce homegrown players. Then to cap it off with Moses (2003), Orlando (1998), and Kayo (2002) making a difference in the match was icing on the cake. Age doesn’t matter when you can play and have quality. The older guys have not only welcomed them but have really been great leaders and role models to help expedite the development. If the guys continue to prove themselves at training they deserve to play and they will. Part of being a pro is earning the jersey and winning the job! It’s a great atmosphere in the group and they just want to continue getting better each day!"
Forward Connor Presely
Overall thoughts on tonights match:
"I think in any game there are always things to improve but what was important tonight was that we fought hard and got the win. I was really happy to help the team and get the winner tonight. It was a great play through by Bryang, my only thoughts were to get the ball on target and into the back of the net. Overall, it was great soccer from the guys, we need to build on the win and keep moving forward to Louisville."
Defender Peabo Doue
On getting three points on the road:
"With the schedule that we have, we knew that the first half of the season was going to be tough. So to be able to grab three points against a young, talented Swope side gives us plenty of confidence going forward."
Overall team performance:
"I thought that we were very brave tonight. We showed a lot of character on both sides of the ball."
Thoughts on two assists and chance creating throughout the game:
"To me, those goals were a byproduct of the team buying into Ryan’s attacking philosophies. Murphy and Griffin both made great runs, which made it really easy for me to find them in the attack."
Midfielder Griffin Yow
Overall thoughts on team performance:
"I thought it was a great overall team performance I thought we did a great job when it was tied to come back and get the 2-1 and then 3-2. We battled through the hard circumstances and it was a great three points on the road."
Thoughts on second goal for Loudoun United:
"It was great to get a goal especially on my first game back. I saw Peabo have the open pass and made the run inside of the box, I love being one on one with players so I cut it back to my right foot and hit it far post. I am very happy to get a goal once again but it was the team who got it done."
The team performance moving forward:
"I think this gives us a lot of confidence going into Saturday’s game getting three points on the road like this is huge and then also being able to get three more points on Saturday would be a great six point week. We just need to keep our heads down and keep working if we want to keep this win streak going but I think we have something great."
