Loudoun United Football Club (2-1-0) takes on last year’s Eastern Conference Champions, Rhode Island FC (0-1-1), in their first home match of the 2025 USL Championship season. The Red-and-White look to bounce back following a 2-0 defeat on the road to Louisville City FC at Lynn Family Stadium this past weekend. Loudoun started their 2025 campaign with back-to-back comeback wins in league play against Birmingham Legion FC and North Carolina FC. Abdellatif Aboukoura has started off the 2025 season on a roll, with two goals in three matches for the Red-and-White. Both of last year’s matchups between these two clubs finished in a 0-0 draw. Currently, Loudoun United sits in third place in the Eastern Conference with six points, while Rhode Island FC sits in 10th place in the East with one point.
Rhode Island FC aims to get its first win of the season after starting the season with a 2-0 loss at Charleston Battery and, most recently, a 2-2 draw to Phoenix Rising FC. The 2024 Eastern Conference Champions put up two first-half goals on Phoenix but gave up the lead early in the second half, resulting in one point out of the match. Rhode Island’s standout attacker, JJ Williams, scored his 12th goal for the club, first this season, in the 2-2 draw. Other names to look out for are Noah Fuson and Albert Dikwa. Williams, Fuson, and Dikwa combined for 31 goals last season.
