Leesburg, VA (August 19th) – Loudoun United Football Club is set to host Western Conference foe Sacramento Republic FC in the Quarterfinal Round of the USL Jägermeister Cup tomorrow night at Segra at 7:00 PM EST.
The Matchup
The Red-and-White come into this quarterfinal matchup after winning Group 5 of the USL Cup with a record of 2-0-2 and 9 points. Loudoun United comes into the match following a big 3-2 comeback victory over Indy Eleven in league play this past Saturday. With two goals from Loudoun’s Quimi Ordonez and another from Zach Ryan, the Red-and-White’s offense continues to stay hot. Sacramento Republic FC enters the Quarterfinal matchup after topping Group 1 with three wins and one loss and nine points. The Western Conference side is coming off a high-scoring 3-3 draw against Oakland Roots SC in league play on Saturday. In USL Championship play, both clubs have 31 points; Loudoun United sits in 3rd place in the East, while Sacramento Republic sits in 2nd place in the West.
Players to look out for on Loudoun United include Abdellatif Aboukoura, who leads the club with 11 regular-season goals and two goals in this USL Cup. Another key player up top for the Red-and-White is the new signing Quimi Ordonez, who is coming off a two-goal performance against Indy Eleven. This performance earned him the USL Championship Player of the Week. On Sacramento, Michelle Benítez leads his side with two USL Cup goals, and in league play, Russell Cicerone and Christian Parano both lead their side with five goals apiece.
