

Leesburg, VA (April 15) — Loudoun United FC has signed defenders Jayden Fisher and Sarah Peternel to its USL W team for the 2026 season, pending league and federation approval.
Fisher joins Loudoun United following her freshman season at American University, where she began establishing herself as a promising young defender. In 2025, she appeared in 10 matches with two starts, scoring her first collegiate goal in her first career start during a 3-1 win over Lehigh. Prior to her collegiate career, Fisher was a standout at Independence High School, where seh served as team captain and earned First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-State honors. She helped her team to a state championship in 2023 and a semifinal appearance in 2024. At the club level, Fisher developed with VA revolution Soccer Club, earning multiple ODP State Team selections and a Regional State Team nod.

Peternel arrives at Loudoun United following a standout career at Shepard University, where she developed into a reliable adn impactful presence along the back line. In 2025, she appeared in 20 matches with 19 starts, recording one goal and three assists while earning All-PSAC East Second Team honors. Her 2024 campaign was especially impressive, earning D2CCA All-American Third Team honors, PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and multiple All-Region selections. Before her time at Shepard, Peternel competed at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Memphis, gaining valuable experience at the Division I level.
“Sarah Peternel is a player who brings experience, composure, and consistency to our backline,” said Loudoun United USL W Head Coach, Christian Cziommer. “She has proven herself at multiple levels, and her ability to read the game and contribute is exactly what we are looking for. Her leadership and understanding of the game will be a valuable asset as we continue to shape this group.”
