Match Preview – USL Jägermeister Cup | Loudoun United FC vs. Louisville City FC
Leesburg, VA (May 29th, 2025) – Loudoun United Football Club is set to host Eastern Conference rivals Louisville City FC in the second round of the USL Jägermeister Cup this Saturday, May 31st at Segra Field.
The Matchup
Loudoun United Football Club (7-3-0) currently sits in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with 21 points. The Red-and-White are 1-0 in the Jägermeister Cup after defeating Lexington SC in the first round back on April 26th; this will be the club’s first time hosting a USL Jägermeister Cup match. Louisville City FC (6-0-4) sits in 2nd place in the East with 22 points. These two clubs have matched up twice so far this season, once in the USL Championship regular season, and once in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Louisville won both matchups at their home stadium, 2-0 and 2-1. The Red-and-White have tallied 19 goals thus far in league play. Loudoun’s Abdellatif Aboukoura sits in 3rd place in the USL Championship Golden Boot race with eight goals, and Florian Valot is tied for first in the league in assists with five. Loudoun United FC are coming off a bye week, while Louisville City defeated Monterey Bay 2-0 this past weekend.
Louisville City looks to keep their unbeaten streak alive, posting six wins and four draws in USL Championship play. In the first round of USL Jägermeister Cup play, Louisville City defeated USL League One side Richmond Kickers 4-1. Players to look out for on Louisville City are Ray Serrano, Phillip Goodrum, and their goalkeeper Damien Las, who has five clean sheets.
