
Loudoun United Football Club signs defender Luca Piras through 2026, with an option for the 2027 season
Leesburg, VA (August 8, 2025) – Loudoun United Football Club has signed defender Luca Piras to a contract through the 2026 season, with an option for 2027, pending league and federation approval.

Luca Piras joins the Red-and-White following a season with Italian Serie D club AC Mestre in the fourth tier of the Italian league. Born in Mappano, Italy, Piras came up through the Juventus youth system and, in 2020, signed with the Parma U17 side, where he played for one season. He then joined Cittadella U19, where he played for three seasons, making 28 appearances and scoring four goals with two assists. In the fall of 2024, the 21-year-old defender signed with AC Mestre, making 27 appearances and recording one assist.
“He’s a very athletic right back and can cover a lot of ground for us,” said Head Coach Ryan Martin. “We think he’s a gifted talent and fits our style of play very well. I’m looking forward to seeing him develop and get some minutes here.”
