
Leesburg, VA (May 5, 2026) — Loudoun United FC has signed midfielders Alexandros Katsari-Hoefern and Jack Sullivan, goalkeeper Tanner Newport, and defender Kevin Cruz to its USL Two team for the 2026 season, pending league and federation approval.
Katsari-Hoefern joins Loudoun United following three seasons at the College of William & Mary. Katsari-Hoefern brings strong local ties and a competitive development background to Loudoun’s midfield. During his sophomore season in 2024, he appeared in all 16 matches for the Tribe, making 14 starts and recording an assist in William & Mary’s win over UNCW. In 2025, he appeared in 11 matches with one start and was named to the CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Prior to his collegiate career, Katsari-Hoefern earned All-Region and All-District First Team honors at South Lakes High School and spent time with Herndon Youth Soccer, BRYC, Loudoun Soccer, Virginia Revolution PRO, and Los Toros. He also helped Loudoun Soccer reach ECNL Nationals in 2021 and 2023 and was part of the Olympic Development Program from 2017-22, including state, regional and national team selections.

Sullivan signs with Loudoun United after joining the University of Akron following two seasons at Saint Louis University. A midfielder from Potomac, Maryland, Sullivan brings high-level academy, collegiate and professional development experience to Loudoun’s USL Two side. At Saint Louis, Sullivan appeared in 17 matches across two seasons and recorded one assist while helping the Billikens reach the NCAA Tournament in 2024. Before his collegiate career, Sullivan consistently featured for Colorado Rapids 2 in MLS NEXT Pro and was named the 2022 MLS Academy Player of the Year. He was also recognized by TopDrawerSoccer.com as one of its Top 125 Players to Watch in 2023. His technical quality, experience in professional environments and ability to contribute in the midfield give Loudoun another dynamic option in the center of the pitch.

Newport joins Loudoun United as an experienced goalkeeper with collegiate and local ties. A Loudoun Valley High School product, Newport brings size, shot-stopping ability and valuable experience between the posts. During his freshman season at Bluffton University in 2019, Newport started all 19 matches and made 125 saves, ranking 14th in NCAA Division III, while earning Heartland Conference Honorable Mention honors. In 2020, he started all eight matches for Bluffton and appeared in two others, recording 61 saves, which ranked 10th in NCAA Division III, along with a .735 save percentage. Newport later continued his collegiate career at Johnson & Wales University, where he appeared in six matches, made five starts, earned a 2-2 record and recorded a shutout against Emory & Henry. At Loudoun Valley, Newport was a four-year varsity starter and earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region and honorable mention all-county recognition while helping his team to conference, district and regional titles.

Cruz signs with Loudoun United from Virginia Revolution SC, bringing defensive depth and a strong player development background to the group. Cruz has been involved with VA Revolution for several years, gaining experience in both competitive team environments and youth player development. In addition to his playing experience, Cruz currently serves as the head coach of the VA Revolution 2014 Boys White and 2015 Girls Black teams. He previously spent three years coaching in the club’s Academy program and an additional year with Academy Select, where he worked with some of the club’s top youth players.
“Kevin comes to us after playing multiple seasons for the UPSL team, bringing a wealth of experience across the defensive line with his versatility in a three- or four-back system,” said Loudoun United FC USL Two Head Coach Matthew Mountford. “We look forward to working with him throughout the season and seeing his growth during this period.”
