Detroit, MI (August 15, 2026) — Loudoun United FC earned a point on the road following a 0-0 draw against Detroit City FC at Keyworth Stadium. The Red-and-White battled through a tightly contested match and held Detroit scoreless to secure their second clean sheet in three USL Championship matches.
Match Summary
Detroit looked to apply pressure during the opening stages, but Loudoun settled into the match and began finding opportunities in the attacking half. Pedro Santos came close to giving the Red-and-White the lead in the 27th minute when his left-footed free kick from distance narrowly missed the top corner. Detroit threatened late in the opening half when they connected with a ball inside the penalty area in the 39th minute. Loudoun remained organized defensively through the remainder of the half, sending the two sides into the break scoreless.
The Red-and-White came out pushing forward after halftime. Abdellatif Aboukoura had an effort blocked inside the penalty area in the 55th minute before sending another attempt over the crossbar four minutes later. Richard Aman nearly found the breakthrough in the 67th minute after receiving a ball from James Murphy, but his shot from the left side of the box went just wide.
Detroit responded three minutes later when they struck the crossbar from outside the penalty area. The match remained open as both sides continued searching for the first goal, but neither was able to find a breakthrough. Akil Watts entered the match in the 82nd minute to make his Loudoun United FC debut and made an immediate impact. Two minutes after coming on, Watts forced a save from the Detroit goalkeeper with a left-footed effort from inside the box. Loudoun continued the pressure moments later when Abdellatif Aboukoura found Noah Adnan with a cross, but Adnan’s header was also saved.
Detroit pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Ethan Bandré and the Loudoun defense remained composed to preserve the clean sheet. Marcos Dias had one final opportunity for the Red-and-White in stoppage time, sending a header over the crossbar as the match finished 0-0.

Head Coach Anthony Limbrick on earning a point on the road and the impact of the club’s new additions:
“I thought, all in all, it was a good point away from home at a very tough place to come against a team that has a very good record here. We didn’t want to settle for the point or settle for the draw at all. We were trying to push and score in the second half, most certainly, but all in all, we were pleased with the performance and how solid we were defensively. I think Eddy obviously leads the line very well. He’s very quick, he’s very raw, and he puts in an absolute shift every game, which we’re really pleased with. I thought Giorgi came in and worked hard defensively and had a couple of little chances in the final third. I thought Akil came in and did well too. I think a special mention as well for Noah Adnan, who has just come back from injury and has really added to the group. He’s almost like a new player for us too. I think those guys coming in have really helped us so far.”
Midfielder James Murphy on earning a point at Keyworth Stadium and the team’s defensive performance:
“Whenever you come here to Keyworth, getting anything from the game is a decent result. It’s a really tough place to play, and we’ve got a good handful of guys in our group who haven’t experienced this kind of environment yet. For some of them to perform the way they did was really impressive. You look at guys like Noah and Sal, our center back pairing, playing here for the first time against a good team, and they really stood tall and accepted the challenge. I think most of the group did. There were a couple of times where they came close and probably a couple of times where we could have done a little bit better and gotten something more out of it, but at the end of the day, I think the draw is a fair result. The boys stood up to the challenge, defended well when we had to and threw their bodies on the line. Maybe on a different day we sneak out with the win, but the boys pushed hard, and coming here and taking something from the game is always a decent result”
