Leesburg, VA (August 20, 2026) – Loudoun United FC returns to Segra Field this Saturday, August 22, to host New Mexico United in USL Championship action. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET as the Red-and-White look to build on last weekend’s road result and earn three points in front of the home crowd.
The Matchup
Loudoun enters Saturday’s match following a 0-0 draw against Detroit City FC at Keyworth Stadium. The Red-and-White remained organized defensively throughout the match and held Detroit scoreless to earn their second clean sheet in three USL Championship matches. Loudoun created several opportunities of its own in the second half but was unable to find the breakthrough as the two sides shared the points.
New Mexico comes to Segra Field in strong form after earning a 1-0 home victory against FC Tulsa last weekend. The result continued a club-record unbeaten run for New Mexico that dates back to May 20. Prior to facing Tulsa, New Mexico had scored 14 goals across its previous five matches, including a 5-2 road victory against Monterey Bay FC on August 8.
Saturday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between Loudoun and New Mexico. The Red-and-White earned a 1-0 road victory in the first meeting between the clubs in May 2021 before New Mexico won 3-1 at Segra Field in 2023. The most recent matchup came in September 2024, when New Mexico earned a 1-0 victory at Isotopes Park.
Loudoun will look to carry its defensive organization from Detroit into Saturday’s matchup while creating more opportunities in the attacking third. With the Red-and-White back at Segra Field, they will look to slow New Mexico’s recent momentum and secure an important result at home.

“They’re a really good team and they’re in great form. They’re unbeaten in 11 games and have won their last five, so it’s going to be a tough task for us, but it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to. They have good attacking threats and good rotation in midfield, but I also think there are areas where we can get at them with the positive things we’ve been doing over the last six games. We’ve only lost once in six and picked up nine points in that stretch. The biggest challenge will be dealing with the way they play, their movement and rotation, and the way they pass the ball. They can draw you on and then hurt you in behind. For us, it’s about defending well and then making sure we take our chances when we get them at home. I think we will create those opportunities, but we have to be clinical and take them. I think it’s going to be a really good game.”
