Leesburg, VA (August 27, 2026) – Loudoun United FC heads west this Saturday to take on El Paso Locomotive FC at Southwest University Park. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET as the Red-and-White look to continue their recent run of results and pick up three points on the road.
The Matchup
Loudoun enters Saturday’s match following a 0-0 draw against New Mexico United at Segra Field. The Red-and-White controlled much of the match and continued pushing for the winner after New Mexico was reduced to 10 men in the first half, but were unable to find the breakthrough. The result marked Loudoun’s fourth clean sheet in its last five USL Championship matches and left the club with just one loss across its last six league games.
El Paso comes into the weekend on a quick turnaround after earning a 2-1 home victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Wednesday night. The Locomotive scored the winner late in the second half to secure their fifth consecutive USL Championship victory and move into second place in the Western Conference. El Paso had also recorded four straight clean sheets before Wednesday’s match, including a 3-0 road win against San Antonio FC and a 1-0 victory at Colorado Springs.
Saturday will mark the fifth all-time meeting between Loudoun and El Paso. The Locomotive won each of the first three matchups between the clubs before the Red-and-White earned their first victory in the series last season. Loudoun traveled to Southwest University Park in September 2025 and came away with a 2-1 win after scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes.
Loudoun will look to carry its recent defensive form into another difficult road environment while finding ways to be more clinical when opportunities come in the attacking third. With El Paso dangerous from wide areas and crosses into the box, defending those moments will be important for the Red-and-White, while making the most of opportunities in transition could provide chances at the other end.

Head Coach Anthony Limbrick on preparing for El Paso and Loudoun’s approach to the match:
“This week has been a good week of training. We’ve really gotten back to the basics with what we’ve been working on for the El Paso game. They’re a tough team, and it’s a difficult place to go with the long trip and a very unique stadium, but it’s one we’re all looking forward to. We’ve planned and prepared properly for it. We’ve watched El Paso a lot and looked at their strengths, but also the areas where we feel we can exploit them. We’ve been on a decent run of form over the last six games, picking up wins and draws and keeping four clean sheets in our last five. That’s been really pleasing from a defensive point of view, from the attackers all the way through the defenders, and the goalkeeper is in good form. We’ll have to defend well if we want to get a result. I think our success will come from being clinical in the final third, making the most of our counterattacking situations and defending the box well. They can score from crosses, so that will be a really important part of the game for us.”
