Leesburg, VA (September 4, 2026) — Loudoun United FC fell 5-4 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Segra Field despite a hat trick from Eddy Davis III and a record-setting goal from Abdellatif Aboukoura.
Match Summary
Colorado Springs opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Loudoun found its response late in the first half. Eddy Davis III brought the Red-and-White level in the 38th minute, scoring his first goal for Loudoun United to send the sides into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Switchbacks regained the lead five minutes into the second half, but Loudoun answered almost immediately. Davis struck again in the 52nd minute to level the match before completing his hat trick in the 60th to give the Red-and-White a 3-2 advantage. The three goals marked Davis’ first goals for Loudoun United since joining the club on loan from Philadelphia Union.
Colorado Springs pulled level in the 84th minute, setting up a frantic finish at Segra Field. Loudoun responded once again three minutes later through Abdellatif Aboukoura, who found the back of the net to put the Red-and-White ahead 4-3. The goal was Aboukoura’s 27th in USL Championship regular-season play, setting the league record for the most goals scored by a player before turning 22.
The Switchbacks equalized in the 90th minute before Loudoun was reduced to 10 players in stoppage time. Colorado Springs was awarded a penalty in the closing moments and converted from the spot to secure the 5-4 result.

“As a nine, scoring a hat trick is obviously a dream performance for me, but I wish I could have done more to help get the win over the line for the boys. We went up 3-2 and then 4-3, so it’s a really tough result. We have another match and another opportunity to go get three points, so we go again.”
