Miami, FL (October 10, 2026) — Loudoun United FC secured all three points on the road, defeating Miami FC 2-0 behind two late goals from Eddy Davis III. The forward broke the deadlock in the 85th minute before adding his second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory for the Red-and-White.
Match Summary
Loudoun United faced a Miami FC side entering on a four-match winning streak, including a victory over the top team in the USL Championship standings the previous week. Miami held the majority of possession and looked to create opportunities throughout the opening half, but Loudoun remained organized defensively and limited the hosts’ chances in front of goal.
Loudoun continued to battle throughout the second half, holding firm defensively while looking for opportunities to break through on the other end. Despite Miami’s advantage in possession and shots, Loudoun remained composed and kept the match scoreless heading into the final minutes.
Loudoun finally found the breakthrough in the 85th minute when Eddy Davis III found the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. With Miami pushing forward in search of an equalizer, Davis III struck again in the seventh minute of stoppage time, completing his brace and securing all three points for the Red-and-White.
Thoughts from the Club
Head Coach Anthony Limbrick on the team’s performance and securing all three points:
“I thought overall we deserved to win the game. Miami had won their last four matches, beaten the top team in the league last week and scored a lot of goals, so to come here and keep a clean sheet was really pleasing. We scored at the right times, particularly when they were pushing forward late in the game, but I’m just really proud of the players. After what happened last week with missing out on the playoffs, to put in that type of performance in a game that some people might say doesn’t mean anything to us says a lot about this group. For us, every game means everything, and you could see that in the players tonight. Their effort, work rate and commitment were excellent, and they fully deserved the result. I also want to mention Ethan, Luca and Sal. It’s never easy for a goalkeeper to come in and out of the team, but Ethan was fantastic tonight. Luca is one of our best trainers, works incredibly hard and is really respected by the group, and I thought he did very well. Sal was composed on the ball, won his duels and helped us keep the clean sheet. I’m really pleased for all three of them and for the entire group.”
Forward Eddy Davis III on the victory and scoring twice:
“It was a great team win, and obviously we’re really happy to come away with the clean sheet and all three points. For me, I’m just happy to help the team win. That’s what they brought me here to do, and I want to contribute however I can, whether that’s scoring goals, pressing or doing whatever the team needs. To score twice, especially with my family here watching, means a lot, but at the end of the day, it’s about getting the win.”
