Leesburg, VA ( April 7, 2026) — Loudoun United FC has signed midfielder Alessandro Maldonado and forward Xavier O’Neil to its USL Two team for the 2026 season.
Maldonado joins Loudoun United FC 2 following his time at Old Dominion University, where he is a redshirt freshman. The Woodbridge, Virginia native brings a diverse developmental background, having competed internationally and within professional environments at a young age. Maldonado represented the Honduras U-17 National Team in the 2022 Concacaf U-17 Championship, appearing in three matches, and previously made an appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Prior to his collegiate career, Maldonado developed through the D.C. United Academy before moving overseas to join Istra 1961’s U-19 side in Croatia.
“We are delighted to welcome Niño back to the area after playing in the USL Championship for the Colorado Switchbacks and now at the highest collegiate level at ODU,” said USL Two Head Coach, Matthew Mountford. “He is a player fans will enjoy watching because of his ability to unlock the opponent using deception and skill, both on and off the ball.”

O’Neil joins Loudoun United FC 2 with extensive collegiate experience, most recently competing at Saint Louis University after beginning his career at Boston College. Across two seasons with the Eagles, O’Neil appeared in 32 matches, recording 2 goals and 5 assists, and earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors in 2023. During his sophomore season in 2024, O’Neil made 15 appearances with 12 starts, contributing one goal and two assists. O’Neil previously came through the D.C. United Academy and made his professional debut with Loudoun United FC in the USL Championship at just 16 years old.
